December 2, 2009 - Corporate Values Statement

A Three Month Project Comes To Fruition

We've had our Mission Statement defined since day one, but we've been working over the last several months to fully develop a formal corporate values statement, and we've succeeded.
This statement is our pledge, to our customer, vendors and employees to always do the right thing. It is a statement of what we believe, how we interact with others, the essence that makes Atlantic Motorcar such special place to work and do business with.

We'll be unveiling it soon as a direct link off our main web page, but in the meantime I want to thank the countless folks, customers, employees and vendors who have allowed us to bounce ideas off them, make suggestions, offered gentle guidance, in short, the people who allowed us to fully and succinctly define what we stand for.

We've learned a great deal over the last three months, about ourselves, our staff and those we interact with. It has made us a better and stronger business, and allowed us to identify and amplify those things that we do very well.

Thank you!

November 25, 2009 - Keys and A Smile

New Home For Our Needy Maine Family Volvo Station Wagon!

The Family...
Our staff has selected a young couple from Bath, Maine to be the recipients of the Volvo. Out of respect for their privacy, we can’t mention their names directly, but we do think you’ll be encouraged by their story.

She and her husband are both working diligently to raise their 2 year old son - under quite trying circumstances - and in a tiny apartment. Both work in customer service, but alternate their work schedules so someone is always home with their young son. They are currently without transportation, and walk to their jobs, in both good and horrendous weather.

Despite these hardships their fellow workers report that they always come to work with a smile and are dedicated to their profession. The nominator noted that the winning nominee is perhaps the most positive person she has worked with, never complains about her situation, and is always an encouragement to others.

We are therefore delighted to award the Volvo station wagon, one year of free service, and the Thanksgiving dinner this wonderful family. Should they choose to come forward, we will of course support their decision, otherwise appreciate your confidence and support.

October 2009 - Free To A Good Home

$1.00 Cash, This is No Clunker, But It Does Come With A Turkey!

Dear Friend,
With the economic cycle looking like we are finally heading in the right direction, but there are still a lot of people who are having a tough time. While "Cash For Clunkers" was great for those who could afford a new car and the car manufacturers in Detroit, it did nothing for the family who's car really is a "Clunker" and need some sort of affordable transportation to get to work.

Thanksgiving is just around the corner, traditionally a time for folks to reflect and be thankful for their blessings throughout the year. Giving back is a key value here at Atlantic Motorcar, and after six great years in business, we'd like to share our blessings with others.

With that in mind, we decided to help a needy family this November by allowing for them to purchase a refurbished 1994 Volvo Station Wagon for ONE DOLLAR. It is a vehicle which we have serviced since for a number of years as one of our customer service loaner cars.
We've installed new tires, brakes, fluids and had the car fully detailed to look and drive beautifully. Not to mention this vehicle gets 24 mpg on the highway making it comparable to many of the new cars which were exchanged for "Clunkers."

We are now accepting nominations for somebody deserving of this opportunity. The ideal person to nominate is somebody who usually thinks of others before themselves. On Friday, November 20th we will announce the winner giving the lucky person the opportunity to buy the car for ONE DOLLAR. Not only will they get the car, Atlantic Motorcar will service the car for a period of one year! But this won't be just an empty car, all the trimmings, including the turkey, will be in back for a complete Thanksgiving dinner!

Nominations can be mailed to Atlantic Motorcar Service, ATTN: "Keep a Family Rolling", 10 Ox Horn Road, Wiscasset, Maine 04578 or email Bruce@AtlanticMotorcar.com. All nominations must be postmarked by Friday, November 20, 2009.

Atlantic Motorcar will read all of the nominations and will determine the most deserving person to be the owner of the Volvo for ONE DOLLAR. The chosen nomination will be announced on Wednesday, November 25th.

All nominations need to include the following information:

* Nominating person's Name, Address, and Phone Number

* Why you believe the nominated family needs and
deserves the opportunity to purchase the Volvo station wagon for one dollar

* Nominee family's Name, Address and Phone Number

If you have any other questions, please feel free to give us a call.
Otherwise, we will look forward to seeing your nominees!

And as always if there is anything we can help you with in regards to your vehicles, we are always here to assist you.

Give us a call to set an appointment at 207-882-9969.

Sincerely,
Bruce J. Howes & staff

September 2009 - Much To Report!

Atlantic Motorcar is delighted to announce that we have been appointed a dealer for
Active Autowerke accessories and performance modifications for BMW automobiles. You can find out more about Active Autowerke at www.ActiveAutowerke.com.

Our new sign will be up by the time you read this, thanks to the great folks at NeoKraft, the next time you drive by, let us know what you think.

Rick is back from Bosch Diagnostic training down in Daytona Beach, Florida, yes, I know, rough assignment.

We've upped our customer loaner car count yet again, we now have 6 loaners to make your service appointment as convenient as possible.

The rear of the office side of the building will be undergoing a renovation next month, as we install a new sales area, employee break room, and in-house employee training center. We are actually thinking of expanding and offering training to diagnostic service work to other local service facilities early next year.

August 2009 - Keeping Busy

Its hard to believe that summer is indeed over, or nearly over. In the past 8 months of 2009 we've worked to expand and grow to meet the needs of the most important folks in the world, our customers. We've added
Japanese auto service, we've expanded our technician training programs, and now we are stepping it up again, with the addition of a new factory trained Audi/VW service technician.

You can expect the same great, caring service as you have grown accustomed to here in Wiscasset. You can rest assured that we won't do it if we can't do it correctly, but its important to take care of those who take care of us.

Volvo car sales, a word about the number of Volvos, especially
Cross Country (XC) wagons you see up front. We've expanded our sales business to service our customer needs, and the XC wagons seem to be a very good fit. We can still find you the perfect Audi, BMW, Mercedes, or other car, but the Volvo wagons have been a constant customer request. So rather than have folks wait, we've been buying them ahead of time! All of the cars offered for sale are fully serviced, and come with a service and history binder so you really know what you are buying. Be sure to ask for Jay or Bruce.

July 2009 - We've Grown, Bigger and Better - For You

Our Japanese Auto Service has really caught on, and we've added another technician to help with the workload. In addition, we now have two service writers on staff to answer your call, assist you with service, and make both you and your car smile!

Don't forget we service the wonderful Mini Coopers, save yourself a trip down to Boston. Or your Mini Cooper friend a favor and mention Atlantic Motorcar to them!

In addition, our buyer, Jay, has now come on staff full time to assist you in your Used Car needs. So many of the folks who trust us for service have now come to rely upon us when its time to replace "Old Faithful". Although Volvos are our main line in the used car field, Jay is perfectly able to find you anything you want, foreign or domestic!

Each and every car we sell is fully service and come with a full warranty to the purchaser. We treat every used car like it is a customer car, and each and every one undergoes a very though inspection and service. Ask us to show you the proof, we're happy to provide you with copies of the service prep on each car before sale.

Growing is a good thing, if it can be done without losing the personal touch which you've come to rely upon. Our assurance to you is that you is that you can always find someone to help you with your service needs.

June 2009 - Atlantic Motorcar Referral Program - Save A Friend Some $$$

Our new Referral Program is ready and in place.
If you
love our service, and are a friend of Atlantic Motorcar, do a friend and favor and give him or her one of our new Referral Cards.

The cards, wallet or purse size for your convenience, can be handled out to any of your friends who might benefit from our service.

You get some benefits as well, first you did your friend a favor - sending him or her to people who really
care about their car, you saved your friend $15 off their first visit, and finally, you get a nice gift card from our service department.
It's our way of saying
thanks for doing a good thing!

June 2009 - New Road Sign For Atlantic Motorcar - Finally!

After doing yeoman duty for nearly 6 years, the old wooden Atlantic Motorcar road sign is about to go onto its just reward. We have a spiffy new sign design on order from the good folks at NeoKraft Signs (these guys really make great signs!).

Installation is scheduled for late July or early August, and it should make finding our little corner of the world just a bit easier for our customers and friends.
Thanks to
Paul Marko at Download Design for his design and layout work.

June 2009 - Customer "We Missed You" Calls

If we haven't seen your smiling face for some time, you may have gotten a call from the ever cheerful Mary. Your feedback is important to us, and we want to make certain you are happy with our service. So if you received a call and shared comments, plan on someone calling you back. Likewise, if any element of your service experience was not to your satisfaction, by all means contact Bruce directly at (207) 882-9969.

We're always interested in growing and improving our service to you, so your suggestions and comments mean a great deal to us. Some of our best ideas and services, from expanding the free loaner car fleet, to the most recent, beginning service of Japanese cars, have turned out to be real winners. So help us know how we can help you and your car!

May  2009 - New Telephone System - Easier To Talk With Us

Thanks to our good friends at Burgess Computer in Bath, ME, we have a new telephone system that should make it even easier for our friends to get a hold of us. We've added a fourth line, and second service writer to help speed up and improve the customer experience here at Atlantic Motorcar.

But fear not,
you will not be directed into voice mail unless all four lines are busy, or three of the service support staff are not available to answer your call. Our goal is to always have a live person for you to speak with, to answer your car questions, update you on the status of your car, or assist you in scheduling an appointment.

Our new numbers are (207) 882-9969, 882-9970, and 882-9941. Our fax remains at 882-9940, and of course email is still bruce@atlanticmotorcar.com.

April 2009 - Volvo Factory Service Training - Keep You and Your Car Happy

The Atlantic Motorcar service staff journeyed to Cambridge for training on the latest and greatest Volvo electronic and diagnostic systems. The course, taught by Allan Osborune, formally a Volvo Tech Rep, was an outstanding and memorable day. The fellows learned the latest and greatest about the new Volvo lineup, and worked with the latest in Volvo service and diagnostic tools.

Training is an ongoing part of our culture here at Atlantic Motorcar, and it helps our techs service your car more rapidly and accurately. We'll soon be posting our technician certifications on the website, so keep checking this page.

April 2009 - Free Loaner Cars - And Lots Of Them!

You asked for it, and we listened.

Our fleet of FREE loaner cars has grown to a total of six! That's right, for any service taking more than one hour, just ask for a free loaner car when scheduling your appointment. While we can't promise you a 2009 Volvo Cross Country, you can be assured that our loaner car fleet is safe, comfortable, and ready to go.

If you want a real treat, ask for the white Volvo 850 Turbo with 338,000 original miles. The car has become a customer favorite, and has the same engine, and the same transmission, it just shows what careful service will do.
